What kind of war are we in?
cyberwar surveillance intelligenceFrom 1946 to 1991, the period known as the “Cold War”, this was because there was continuous tension between the US, NATO, and USSR.
The entire Cold War was fought with espionage, counterespionage, SIGINT, technology race and a pinch of propaganda.

To date, nothing has changed: The methodologies have evolved along with the protagonists. Now it is the US against China, Russia and the Middle East.
Let’s focus on methodologies that are used today: intelligence, mass surveillance, cyber attacks, technology race and not forget about Pro-(Israel, Palestine, Ukraine, Russia) propaganda.
So we can conclude that we are in the Cold War of the 21st century; Oh no! I’m not the only one who has thought about it.

The intelligence
“Intelligence is the field of data gathering, evaluation, assessing and analysis and involves branch of cyber security, cryptology, espionage and others”
In the years of the Cold War I, the spies were soldiers trained to endure heavy interrogation sessions. They would kill themselves with cyanide if they were detected on a mission. The role of spies is very important to gain secrets of another country, and that country gives a advantage in tactical view.
Today the role of spy is pretty similar but now is applied for anti-terrorism, direct conflicts (like Palestine and Israel) and to caught illegal drug trade.

Where is the evolution? The evolution is the cyber security field, now APT groups (advanced persistent threat) can pwn entire network via vulnerabilities, social engineering or with physical a attack.
What is a APT
“An APT is a stealthy threat actor, typically a state or state-sponsored group, which gains unauthorized access to a computer network and remains undetected for an extended period.”
